Babbel México
BABBEL is a success story born from the collaboration of two great teams from the United States and Mexico, showcasing their remarkable creative and production potential: Quirk and Videns.
Quirk Creative, one of the 10 fastest-growing agencies in the United States, is a key partner of Videns, a production company with over 20 years of experience based in Guadalajara. This year, we’ve faced major challenges together.
One of them was the Babbel account, a leading language-learning app, where international collaboration was essential to the success of a large-scale, high-end project.
Babbel chose Guadalajara as the main location for a storytelling campaign in which an American tourist breaks language barriers—thanks to BABBEL.
Tlaquepaque and Zapopan provided the perfect backdrops to recreate vibrant, colorful, and inviting Mexican settings. Both the Creative team and account executives from Quirk arrived in the "Perla Tapatía" (the Pearl of the West). The technical crew—including gaffers and electricians—came from Mexico City, along with representatives from Babbel, who enjoyed both the experience and the production.
The cinematography was led by the talented New York-based Director of Photography, Julia Swain, whose work has been widely praised for its organic aesthetics, cinematic storytelling, and natural yet highly artistic lighting and textures.
Así fue como más de 40 personas conformamos un equipo de cámara, eléctrico, maquillistas, stylist, talento, etc. Trabajando en equipo para el ensamble de una pieza cinematográfica de alta calidad internacional.
This is how more than 40 people came together—camera crew, lighting technicians, makeup artists, stylists, talent, and more—working as a team to create a high-quality cinematic piece with international standards.
The production tools included an ARRI ALEXA MINI and Cooke Anamorphic lenses—highly sophisticated optics available only by special order, making them extremely rare in the market. These lenses produce a unique texture, signature "oval bokeh," exceptional correction of optical aberrations, and bring shape, depth, and soul to the images.
Lighting involved over 5 tons of equipment: 5K lights, Asteras, and a wide range of rigging and grip gear.
